Lokation, Lokation, Lokation

Hi everyone.

What a great day yesterday and what great results too! Thanks to all who towed, form filled and organised - and child minded! Here are the times and results for our races if you want to get into the detail.

Over 40 men
5th place

We were 6mins 3.73secs
First 4 were under 6!
Great effort and a really good result. Although the row felt a bit clunky, and the waves knocked us off a bit after an iffy start we were 500ths of a second faster than the men's over 50 for a crew that hadn't raced before! We did have gold medallist Andy and Brian and were all fresher for the first row but it was much faster than we thought!

Men's over 50
2nd place

Coigach 5mins 52.58 secs
Loki 6 mins 4.23 secs
Cul Mor 6mins 7.19secs
NB 6 mins 7.70 secs
Great row and ahead for the first part of the race. Coigach moved ahead and the race was very much with NB and not letting Cul Mor catch us! Fantastic finish form 30 strokes out.  Everyone gave their all. Great effort from Sage too in first race with Men's over 50 ish!
Speed was around 5.2 knots

Women's over 50
3rd place

NB 6 mins 19
Coigach 6mins 26
Loki 6mins 29
Porty 6 mins 36
Helmsdale 7 mins 28
Great row again with Loki leading at the start. NB inched ahead but not by much and we oh so nearly caught Coigach. We were racing with them the whole of the second half and they only just beat us! Well done Libby on your fist race with the girls over 50!

Speed was around 4.9/5 knots

What a difference from two and three years ago when we were Loki last rowing with dodgy oars and little practice. I hope everyone's ears are ok after getting the full volume bashing from me. I plan on being really very quiet for a few days now.

Cheers

Gilly
