What Can We Do For You?

The end of 2012's Summer of Fun is approaching and the committee would love to hear what you think about the club and what you would like from it.

Will they be back next year?
Some improvements have been made to the clubhouse in the last 18 months or so, and the hard standing has been increased by perhaps 25%, but more needs doing.

The list includes:

Painting the back walls of the club room. That exciting Mushroom (or was it Woolworth's "Fresh Slurry"?) has to go, so 1980s, but what to choose? Simple white, dark blue or something from Farrow & Ball? Mouse's Back perhaps; or Skimming Stone? How about Churlish Green, Plummett or Railings? Couldn't find anything called Grumble or Mutter.

Shampooing the carpet. It is amazing how much dirt will come up and how fresh it will look afterwards. Anyone volunteer?

Painting the floor. There is some green floor paint in the store and it won't take more than a few hours.

Longer term it would be great to have a shower, but where and how? Plans are afoot for an outside shelter but what can we make of the roof; an under-used asset for sure?

Let us know, via the usual channels.

More to the point though: are you getting value for money? Did you use the club and facilities enough this year to justify the huge expense, and if not why not?

Would you like more social events, lectures, talks, curry nights?

And last but foremost, how about the sailing? Or the skiffing? Are you getting enough? Did you feel excluded from using club boats? Would you like more expert tuition? Would you welcome more experienced sailing members lending more time to bring on the less experienced sailors, for instance?

Don't mutter and grumble; let us know. The 2012 season will go down in the annals of the club but it could have been so much better, couldn't it?
