Scholtz and Maxwell Make History

Gunnar Scholtz and Dave Maxwell made history this afternoon by completing the first circumnavigation of The World in a Flying Fifteen.

Despite periods of calm, Scholtz and Maxwell completed the circuit in a time that will be hard to beat: 23 minutes and 7 seconds, in time to start Saturday's race, from which, exhausted by their achievement, they were forced to retire.

It will be some time before the feat can be repeated as The World is now heading north on its own voyage around the British Isles.

Ii is virtually certain that the Loch Broom Sailing Club heroes will be awarded the club's highest prize at the annual dinner in December.
