EGM Latest

At a well attended EGM at the club on Friday evening members' views on LBSC becoming a Community Amateur Sports Club were robustly aired.

Submissions in broad support by the Commodore and Hon Sec were heard, and a lengthy debate followed.

Opinion seemed to be evenly divided, so it was decided that no vote be taken, and any decision postponed to give time for more research. Andy Reeve, Kate Copestake and Gilly Meighan offered to look into some aspects of membership of particular concern.

The view was that more time was needed to look into the implications of CASC membership, given the plans for harbour development, and how it might affect the club and the security of its assets.

A tentative date to reconvene was set for 19th October.

A vote of thanks was, however, proposed to Hon Secretary Paul Copestake for his marathon effort in bringing the club's attention to the scheme, redrafting the constitution, pulling together the necessary paperwork and corresponding with the relevant bodies.
