EGM 4 FEBRUARY ROYAL HOTEL 7PM

ADVANCE NOTICE

An EGM has been called at which LBSC members are invited to discuss, then endorse or reject proposed changes to the LBSC fee structure (and related constitution changes). All members are welcome to attend.

The Committee met on 14 January and agreed to put forward to the members a proposal that the current fee system, whereby members join the club and pay extra for using club assets (Picos, Flying Fifteens, skiff), should be changed to one whereby the membership fee is all inclusive (other than boat parking and club moorings).

In principle: you join the club, and can then use all the assets, without further payment.
In practice: the more you use the club boats, the better value your subscription will be.

The current system, it was argued, had become cumbersome and difficult to administer. The new system would bring in slightly more, be simpler to understand, fairer to larger families, students and seniors, whilst being easier to administer.

It would, potentially, encourage greater participation in club activities.

The full proposal will be circulated by Paul Copestake in good time for members to read and assess the proposed changes.

Although the committee sees merit in the changes, the final decision will be up to the members.
