Loch Broom's skiff team scored a stunning two bronze medals at the weekend's regatta in Ullapool. Despite problems with oars and kabes, both a men's and women's teams battled courageously to the finish, and had to be lifted ashore by willing helpers, exhausted and babbling incoherently. Indeed, so hard did they row that Loki has now been retired from competition, the strain on her planking proving too great.
Suitably labelled, and with a fresh coat of paint, she is now on permanent display in the Ullapool Museum as a reminder of the gallant service she performed on that glorious August day in 2012; a day that will go down in the annals of the Royal Loch Broom.
