Loki's Secret Revealed. What they Don't Want us to See...

Footage has come to light showing how Loki plans to trounce the opposition at the Skiff World Championships this summer. The newly built Loki prototype (disguised of course with a special trompe l'oeil paint job which appears to show her with a transom)** was captured here being transported to a secret location where she is to be fitted with an improved propeller.

Initial trials with the current propeller were successful but the LBSC team believe further improvements using a more advanced blade section are possible.

The propeller is of course entirely legal, being made of wood and driven by the rowers pushing on specially shortened oars.

Loki is now in a secret location where the new prop will be fitted and tested. Initial indications suggest a 1.2% increase in speed over the prototype.

Meanwhile the old Loki can be seen out on the loch, powered conventionally with oars. The team is also, secretly training with the new skiff on Loch Scionascaig, well away from prying eyes.

** I have just been informed that the new Loki in fact does have a transom, it is not a trick of the paint work, as the kit can be put together in a number of different ways, the rules only stipulating that all the material is used, not how it is used. Apparently a transom is more efficient with a propeller.
